Staff Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Staff Scientist to join our team at the Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating and maintaining our state-of-the-art mass spectrometry and proteomics technology platform.
Key Responsibilities:- Optimize and apply various quantitative proteomic methods, including SILAC, TMT, and label-free approaches.
- Develop and implement structural and chemical proteomic methods, such as cross-linking MS and proximity biotinylation.
- Analyze post-transcriptional modifications, with a focus on phosphorylation.
- Support users of the MS facility throughout the MS workflow, from sample preparation to data analysis.
- Collaborate with technicians and engineers to maintain and operate the LC/MS instruments.
- Excellent knowledge of quantitative proteomic techniques.
- Strong experience with DDA and DIA acquisition and data analysis.
- Expertise in handling LC/MS instruments, particularly Thermo Fisher Orbitrap Tribrid and Exploris mass spectrometers.
- Experience in cross-linking MS or other structural and chemical proteomic methods is advantageous.
- Ability to accurately and reliably document and present scientific data.
- Strong communication skills and proficiency in English.
The mass spectrometry and proteomics technology platform at the FMP is a dynamic and collaborative environment, providing MS services to research groups within and outside of the FMP. The platform hosts a range of state-of-the-art mass spectrometers, including two Orbitrap Exploris 480, LTQ-Orbitrap Fusion Lumos, one LTQ-Orbitrap Fusion, and one LTQ-Orbitrap Elite, all equipped with nano-UPLC systems.
