The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut for Molecular Pharmacology (FMP) is a leading research institution dedicated to basic biomedical research. We are seeking a highly motivated Staff Scientist to join our team in the mass spectrometry and proteomics facility.
The successful candidate will be responsible for optimizing and applying different quantitative proteomic methods, including SILAC, TMT, and label-free approaches. They will also analyze post-transcriptional modifications with a focus on phosphorylation and support users throughout the MS workflow.
The mass spectrometry and proteomics technology platform at the FMP consists of an international team of scientists providing MS services to research groups. The platform hosts a range of state-of-the-art mass spectrometers, including Orbitrap Exploris 480, LTQ-Orbitrap Fusion Lumos, and LTQ-Orbitrap Elite.
We are looking for a highly motivated and responsible scientist with a strong expertise in mass spectrometry and proteomics. The candidate should have a PhD degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, or relevant fields and be highly experienced in various proteomics approaches.
The successful candidate will work closely with the other staff scientists and technical assistants in the facility, assuring optimized operation of the MS instruments and setting up proteomics experiments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Optimization and application of different quantitative proteomic methods
- Analysis of post-transcriptional modifications with a focus on phosphorylation
- Supporting users throughout the MS workflow
- Coordination with technicians and engineers to maintain and operate the LC/MS instruments
Requirements:
- PhD degree in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, biophysics, or relevant fields
- Strong expertise in mass spectrometry and proteomics
- Highly experienced in various proteomics approaches
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English
