About the Role

Lilium is seeking an exceptional Flight Control Laws Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of our revolutionary electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) jet.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and test the Flight Control Law architecture and design to ensure the Lilium Jet's safe and efficient flight.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Aerodynamics, Handling Qualities, and Flight Testing, to ensure a compatible and consistent design and test process.
  • Perform linear and non-linear analyses to validate the robustness of the Flight Control Laws to aerodynamic parameter variations.
  • Interface with the Handling Qualities and Flight Testing teams on piloted testing of control laws baselines.
  • Closely interact with the Aerodynamic and Modelling teams to ensure the suitability of the Flight Dynamics Model for Flight Control Laws development.
  • Support safety assessment activities on flight control system and aircraft level.
  • Contribute to shaping the processes and frameworks of the flight control law team.
Requirements
  • MEng or M.Sc. in Aeronautical Engineering or a similar degree.
  • 5 years of professional experience in flight control law development for fly-by-wire aircraft with a demonstrated track record of delivery.
  • Good understanding of flight dynamics modelling, with previous professional experience in this area a plus.
  • Experience with flight control development of highly augmented aircraft configurations is beneficial.
  • Experience with ARP 4754A and DO-178C is a plus.
  • Excellent skills in Matlab/Simulink.
  • High level of self-reliance with the ability to work in a team, as well as autonomously.
  • Fluent English language skills are essential.
