Job Title: Senior Attorney/Assistant Attorney

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Attorney/Assistant Attorney to join our team at the New York State Conciliation Bureau. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing case files, preparing and issuing proposed decisions, and working directly with the Medical Director's Office to resolve Prior Authorization Requests (PARs).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review case files and prepare proposed decisions under WCL Section 25 and Section 23
  • Work directly with the Medical Director's Office to issue proposed decisions on PARs
  • Perform legal research and apply the law to the facts to draft resolutions
  • Collaborate with Workers' Compensation Claims Referees to draft Proposed Decisions and Reserve Decisions
  • Resolve PARs and other issues
  • Preside at conciliation meetings and Pre-Hearing Conferences

Requirements:

  • Admission to the New York State Bar
  • 12 months of satisfactory legal experience or 24 months of subsequent satisfactory legal experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the Medical Treatment Guidelines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with the Workers' Compensation Law and Medical Treatment Guidelines
  • Knowledge of HPA software, CPT, ICD-10 codes, and CARC/RARC codes
