Senior Attorney/Assistant Attorney

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Attorney/Assistant Attorney to join our team at the New York State Conciliation Bureau within the Office of Issue Resolution. The successful candidate will be responsible for reviewing case files, preparing and issuing proposed decisions under WCL Section 25 and Section 23, and following the Medical Treatment Guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and analyze case files to determine the appropriate course of action
- Prepare and issue proposed decisions under WCL Section 25 and Section 23
- Follow the Medical Treatment Guidelines to ensure compliance
- Work directly with the Medical Director's Office to issue Proposed Decisions on requests for review of Prior Authorizations Requests (PAR)
- Perform legal research and apply the law to the facts to draft a resolution in a proposed decision
- Collaborate with Workers' Compensation Claims Referees to draft Proposed Decisions and Reserve Decisions in accordance with the Workers' Compensation Law and the Medical Treatment Guidelines
- Resolve PAR's and other issues
- Familiarize yourself with the HPA software, CPT, ICD-10 codes, and CARC/RARC codes used by the Medical Director's Office
Requirements:
- Admission to the New York State Bar
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as an Assistant Attorney 2 or 3, or equivalent experience
- Extensive knowledge of the Medical Treatment Guidelines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
