Job Title: Senior Attorney/Assistant Attorney

This is a challenging opportunity to work with the New York State government in the Conciliation Bureau within the office of Issue Resolution.

Job Summary:

The Senior Attorney will be responsible for reviewing case files, preparing and issuing proposed decisions under WCL Section 25 and Section 23, as well as following the Medical Treatment Guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Review and articulate the issue(s) raised in case files
  • Perform legal research and apply the law to the facts
  • Draft proposed decisions following a standardized format within the parameters of the Workers' Compensation Law and the Medical Treatment Guidelines
  • Work with the Medical Director's Office to issue Proposed Decisions on requests for review of Prior Authorizations Requests (PAR)
  • Preside at conciliation meetings and Pre-Hearing Conferences
  • Participate in special legal projects on various issues concerning the application of Workers' Compensation Law
Requirements:
  • Admission to the NYS Bar
  • 12 months of subsequent satisfactory legal experience
  • Extensive knowledge of the Medical Treatment Guidelines
