About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Development Manager to lead our cloud database development team at Amazon Web Services Development Center Germany GmbH - R28.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the growth and leadership of a database software development team responsible for designing and developing cloud database services.
  • Lead the design, implementation, testing, and deployment of cloud database services, prioritizing the backlog and ensuring timely delivery.
  • Mentor a team of experienced software engineers, providing technical guidance, and leadership on complex technical issues, design tradeoffs, and feature prioritization.
  • Shape a culture of innovation, empowering team members to leverage their full potential and drive growth.
  • Collaborate with senior executives to develop business targets and resource requirements, influencing technical and business strategy.
About the Team

Our cloud data warehouse team at Amazon Redshift manages all aspects of setting up, operating, and scaling a data warehouse, from provisioning capacity and installing software to monitoring and backing up the cluster.

With Redshift Spectrum, our customers can easily query data from Amazon S3, scaling their warehouse out to Exabytes and integrating data in various file formats from their data lake into their analytics.

Basic Qualifications
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle.
  • Experience in engineering team management and leading the definition and development of multi-tier web services.
  • Experience partnering with product and program management teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements and describe software product features.
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring, and managing teams of software engineers to improve their skills and effectiveness.
