Job Summary:

As a key member of the CSA Group team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of products through laboratory testing and certification. Under the direction of senior personnel, you will set up and operate test equipment, perform specific and routine tests, and record technical data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with other laboratory technicians and certifiers to complete assigned projects within negotiated time and cost schedules.
  • Set up and operate all test equipment and perform tests within a specific product area, determining compliance with requirements and recommending certification.
  • Perform tests in accordance with work orders, conducting routine tests independently and assisting with complex or unusual tests under guidance from senior staff.
  • Record technical data and draft test result reports, performing mathematical calculations to summarize test results and relate them to product specifications.
  • Assemble and disassemble test samples, hook up laboratory test equipment, and operate most laboratory test equipment.
  • Identify and record substandard features of products and refer them to the manager or certifier.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of tools, equipment, and work areas, and perform assigned laboratory clean-up duties.
  • Ensure the quality and consistency of lab equipment.

Requirements:

  • Technical certificate or equivalent education and experience.
  • Associates degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of various standards, electrical codes, and electric and electronic circuits.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised in a team-based work environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated and client-service oriented.
  • Good organizational, time, and project management skills.
