Position Overview:
Under general supervision, the Laboratory Technician is responsible for setting up and operating testing equipment, conducting routine tests, and assisting with complex evaluations as directed by senior staff. Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with fellow technicians to complete projects within established timelines and budgets.
- Operating all necessary testing equipment and performing tests to determine compliance with established standards, recommending certification when appropriate.
- Conducting tests according to work orders, performing routine tests independently, and assisting in more complex evaluations under guidance.
- Documenting technical data and preparing reports on test results.
- Performing calculations to summarize test outcomes and relating them to product specifications, while liaising with other departments as needed.
- Preparing test samples by assembling and disassembling as required, and operating laboratory equipment.
- Identifying and recording any substandard features of products during testing and reporting them to management.
- Maintaining a clean and organized workspace, ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored and cared for.
- Upholding the quality and consistency of laboratory equipment.
Qualifications:
- Technical Certificate or equivalent education and experience.
- Associate's degree in Engineering Technology or related field.
- Familiarity with various standards and electrical codes, as well as knowledge of electronic circuits and troubleshooting techniques.
- Experience with test and measurement instruments, including oscilloscopes, multimeters, and power analyzers.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Proficiency in reading engineering drawings and interpreting test data.
- Understanding of laboratory instrumentation, including operational principles and calibration methods.
- Strong interpersonal skills and effective communication abilities, both written and verbal.
- Self-motivated with a focus on client service.
- Proven ability to manage tasks efficiently and independently.
