Technician for Laboratory and Measurement Equipment Specialist

Job Summary:

CSA Group is seeking a skilled Technician for Laboratory and Measurement Equipment Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for setting up and operating test equipment, performing specific and routine tests, and recording technical data.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Set up and operate test equipment and perform specific and routine tests under direction and general supervision.
  • Disassemble and assemble test samples, and record technical data.
  • Write reports and act as an assistant on complex or unusual tests under the direction of senior personnel.
  • Work with other laboratory technicians and certifiers to complete assigned projects within negotiated time and cost schedules.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to summarize test results and relate them to product specifications.
  • Assemble and disassemble test samples, hook up laboratory test equipment, and operate most laboratory test equipment.
  • Record substandard features of products and refer them to the manager or certifier.
  • Maintain good housekeeping of tools, equipment, and work area, and carry out assigned laboratory clean-up duties.

Requirements:

  • Technical Certificate or equivalent education and experience.
  • Associates degree in Engineering Technology or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of a variety of standards, electrical codes, and electric and electronic circuits.
  • Knowledge of working with test and measurement instruments and equipment.
  • Ability to work independently and unsupervised in a team-based work environment.
  • Must be able to read engineering drawings and test data.
  • Must have some knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, including operating principles and calibration procedures.
  • Must be team-oriented with good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Must be self-motivated and client-service oriented.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision for non-complex projects.
  • Good organizational, time, and project management skills to complete job tasks independently and in a time-efficient manner.
