We are seeking highly motivated and talented individuals to join our research team at HafenCity Universität Hamburg (HCU). As a doctoral researcher, you will be part of an interdisciplinary team investigating the practices of built environment professionals in administration, planning, and civil society responding to urban growth, climate change, and resource scarcity.
Research Focus: Our research training group explores the agency of built environment professionals in the face of intensified uncertainty and multiple crises. We investigate strategies and interventions related to the urban built environment, focusing on mobility systems, energy provision, and material use.
Key Responsibilities:
- Completion of a doctoral thesis within three years, aligned with one or more of our research areas
- Contributions to academic research through conference participations and presentations
- Active participation in the joint activities of the training group and assumption of duties within the self-administration and self-organization of the training group
Requirements:
- An above-average master's degree or equivalent in one of the involved disciplines
- A very good command of English, as the activities of the training group are conducted mostly in English
- Demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary exchange and willingness to collaborate with others, combined with high-level communication skills
Desirable Skills and Qualifications:
- Experience in interdisciplinary urban and spatial research
- Professional experience related to the built environment
- Experience in empirical social science research
