Position Overview

The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Contract Monitor within the Salem Residency. This position is pivotal in ensuring that all contractor operations adhere to established project guidelines and standards. Responsibilities encompass monitoring construction sites, preparing necessary documentation, submitting detailed progress reports, and enforcing safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough oversight of contractor activities to ensure adherence to project specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate documentation related to project progress and compliance.
  • Monitor work environments to guarantee safety regulations are consistently followed.
  • Assist in materials testing and review projects for environmental compliance.
  • Provide supervision and support during emergency operations.

Essential Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess a valid driver's license and a solid understanding of construction practices. The ability to obtain Work Zone Safety and Flagging Certification is required, along with DEQ Dual Inspector certification within the first year of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in contractor oversight, possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL), and familiarity with automated financial management software are highly desirable.

Additional Information

This role is critical for emergency operations and may necessitate working outside of standard hours. Pre-employment background checks and physical examinations are mandatory. Candidates holding a CDL must undergo a drug screening. Safety footwear is required for this position.
