We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join our team at the August-Wilhelm Scheer Institute for a thesis project in the field of Smart Quality. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a cutting-edge research project that focuses on the development of a key performance indicator system for evaluating the recyclability of materials.
Project OverviewThe aim of this thesis is to design and develop a material evaluation system in terms of recyclability. This project is part of a larger research initiative that explores the digital product passport, a mandatory requirement for all products across the EU in the future. The successful candidate will analyze and optimize the material composition of a product with regard to its recyclability and create a digital sustainability passport as a transparent proof of the product's recyclability.
Responsibilities- Identify the parameters relevant to the recyclability of a material (theoretical chemical suitability for recycling, contaminating additives, sortability, reusability)
- Develop an evaluation scheme (quantitative key figure system)
- View and take into account the scientific state of the art in the area of material recycling
- Develop the relevant parameters for the materials used in the product (research & interviews with recycling companies) to validate and fill the evaluation system developed
