Postdoctoral Researcher: Developing a Novel Optical Microscopy Platform for Fertility Research

EMBL is seeking a highly skilled researcher to join our team and contribute to the development of a novel optical microscopy platform for cross-scale imaging of mammalian and human fertility.
About the ProjectOur project aims to bridge the length scales of biology and medicine by developing a hybrid microscopy platform that combines fluorescence microscopy with label-free optical coherence and Brillouin microscopies. This platform will enable the visualization of molecular and cellular changes in embryos, providing valuable insights into the causes of human infertility.
Responsibilities- Assist in the development and implementation of the novel microscopy platform
- Contribute to the design and execution of experiments to test the platform's capabilities
- Collaborate with the EMBL Imaging Centre and research group of Robert Prevedel to integrate the platform with existing research infrastructure
- Work with the University Hospital of Heidelberg to apply the platform in a clinical setting
- PhD in a relevant field (e.g. biology, physics, engineering)
- At least one original publication in a peer-reviewed journal
- Background in relevant methods (e.g. fluorescence microscopy, optical coherence tomography)
- Ability to work in a team and collaborate with researchers from diverse backgrounds
- 3-year contract
