Postdoctoral Researcher: Developing a Novel Optical Microscopy Platform for Fertility Research

About the Project

We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team at the EMBL-EBI in developing a novel optical microscopy platform for cross-scale imaging of mammalian and human fertility. This project aims to bridge the length scales of biology and medicine by combining high-resolution fluorescence lightsheet with label-free optical coherence and Brillouin microscopies.

Your Role

As a Postdoctoral Researcher, you will be responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of this novel microscopy platform. You will work closely with our interdisciplinary team to design and optimize the platform, and to train artificial intelligence (AI)-based models to recognize molecular and cellular changes from label-free images only.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and implementation of the novel microscopy platform
  • Design and optimize the platform in collaboration with the EMBL Imaging Centre and research group of Robert Prevedel
  • Train AI-based models to recognize molecular and cellular changes from label-free images
  • Contribute to the writing of research papers and presentations

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant field (e.g. biology, physics, computer science)
  • Experience in microscopy, image analysis, and AI-based modeling
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python or MATLAB
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
