Senior Engineer for PETRA III/IV Sample Environment Instrumentation

We are seeking a highly skilled engineer to join our team at DESY, a leading international research center. As a Senior Engineer for PETRA III/IV Sample Environment Instrumentation, you will be responsible for designing, constructing, and commissioning technical instrumentation for challenging PETRA IV beamline requirements.
Key Responsibilities:- Design and develop automated sample exchange systems for cryogenic applications
- Conceptualize standardization of highly stable in-situ & operando X-ray experiments with a focus on cryogenics
- Integrate new concepts, tools, and equipment into the PETRA IV Business and Access Model
- Master or Bachelor of Engineering with a specialization in mechatronics, physical engineering, or a comparable field
- Strong design knowledge in electromechanical constructional systems using 3D CAD software
- Expertise in cryogenics and precision mechanics
- Knowledge of software programming (e.g. Python) and/or electrical engineering
- Excellent communication skills in English
