About the Position

We are seeking a highly qualified Postdoctoral Researcher/Economist (f/m/d) to join our junior faculty at the ifo Institut Leibniz-Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung an der Universität München e. V. as part of our junior faculty development program.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to high-quality research on policy-relevant questions in the field of economics of migration and integration or development economics.
  • Develop and implement research projects, including conceiving, acquiring, managing, and working on third-party funded projects.
  • Publish research results in internationally recognized peer-reviewed journals.
  • Make research results accessible to the general public through various channels.
  • Participate in the structured Junior Faculty Development Program and have the opportunity to teach at LMU Munich.
  • Engage with international top-class economists within our CESifo network with over 2,000 members from all over the world.

Requirements

  • PhD in economics with a focus on the economics of migration, labor economics, applied microeconomics, or a related field.
  • Strong drive to further own research agenda and willingness to give guidance for doctoral candidates.
  • Excellent English language skills, both written and spoken, to interact confidently in the international network of researchers.
  • Knowledge of the German language is an advantage.
  • Experience in working with big data and machine learning methods is a plus.

What We Offer

  • Initial three-year employment contract, with the option to be extended.
  • Salary according to TV-L E 13 or E 14 (around 63,000 EUR incl. special annual payment) depending on publications.
  • Participation in the company pension scheme (VBL) (in addition to the statutory pension insurance).
  • Support in professional and personal development with flexible working hours, the possibility of mobile work, and many tailored training and development programs.
  • Relocation allowance after passing the probationary period if moving to Munich or the surrounding area from a radius of 200 km or more.
  • Support with German courses if needed.
