About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our team in Vancouver, BC. As a key member of our engineering leadership team, you will be responsible for leading a team of software engineers and driving the development of our foundational platform services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead a team of 6-8 software engineers in building and delivering high-quality software solutions
  • Develop and maintain a high-performing team that is capable of building and delivering complex software projects
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, design, and internal engineering teams, to understand business challenges and identify opportunities for growth
  • Work with your team to prepare architecture documents and break down projects into deliverable tasks
  • Build solutions that adhere to our vision of using AWS Serverless architecture and Event Driven architecture
  • Give feedback on code reviews, architecture documents, and support team members in making technical decisions for their projects
  • Coach and support your direct reports in their career growth and development goals
  • Manage your team's Kanban process in JIRA, and promote a culture of pairing and teamwork that will not require direct managerial involvement for day-to-day work
Requirements
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering management and delivery in an Agile environment, with a track record of building high-performing teams
  • 5+ years of professional experience developing secure web applications
  • Experience building web applications using AWS services, Terraform, CDK
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and production operations
  • Experience partnering with product or program management teams
  • Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing software engineers
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for developing talent and creating a culture that promotes learning, embracing ambiguity, and authenticity
  • Passion for learning and sharing your knowledge with others in your team or department
