Senior Beamline Researcher

We are seeking an experienced Senior Beamline Researcher to join our team at DESY in Hamburg, Germany.
As a key member of our research group, you will be responsible for further developing innovative instrumentation and sample environments for coherent X-ray scattering experiments. This will involve collaboration with external groups, including the development of a possible successor beamline at PETRA IV.
You will also support the installation and commissioning of instrumentation at the beamline, perform advanced coherent X-ray scattering experiments making use of the specific beamline capabilities, and develop your own independent research.
In addition, you will lead a small team of scientists, engineers, and technicians, and support external user groups at the beamline.
What We Offer:A highly competitive salary ranging from €80,000 to €120,000 per year, depending on experience, plus benefits such as flexible working hours, variable part-time, job-sharing models, and participation in mobile work.

Your Qualifications:- PhD in physics, chemistry, materials science, or related disciplines
- Experience with (coherent) X-ray techniques using synchrotron radiation
- Practical knowledge of programming and scripting languages and modern ray-tracing codes
- Experimental skills and interest in instrumentation development
- Excellent knowledge of English, basic knowledge of German
- Teamwork abilities, structured working, setting priorities
