We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team at the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (DKFZ) in Heidelberg, Germany.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct innovative research at the forefront of interdisciplinary cancer research, focusing on the synthesis and characterization of novel diagnostic, therapeutic, and theranostic ligands, pharmaceuticals, and biomolecules.
- Develop and implement radiolabeling techniques with alpha-, beta-, and gamma-emitters, and evaluate coordination properties and radiation-induced physicochemical effects.
- Perform in vitro evaluation of in-house produced radiolabeled compounds, including binding and internalization assays.
- Collaborate closely with (radio-)biologists for drug lead optimization.
- Contribute to the development of scientific publications and grant applications.
- Co-supervise students and colleagues.
- Present research results in internal and external meetings, conferences, and workshops.
- PhD and master's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, medicinal chemistry, or pharmaceutical sciences, with a specialization in radiochemistry, radiopharmacy, metalorganic, or complexation chemistry.
- Strong background in synthetic organic chemistry and drug design, particularly in peptides, peptidomimetics, and small molecules/organic ligands.
- Proficiency in analytical methods, including NMR, MS, HPLC, TLC, and Gamma-spectroscopy.
- Extensive experience in radionuclide handling, radiolabeling techniques, and radiopharmaceutical synthesis.
- Strong publication record in internationally recognized scientific journals.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills in multi-collaborative and interdisciplinary settings.
- Highly motivated, with strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in accordance with global GLP standards.
- Passionate about science and committed to impacting cancer research.
- Strong scientific English language proficiency, with additional German language skills ideal.
- Experience with cell culture, biological assays, and small animals is a significant advantage.
