About the Role

Lilium is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team as a System Installation Specialist. As a key member of our Structures and Interior Design Organization, you will be responsible for designing and implementing the installation of various aircraft systems into the airframe.

Key Responsibilities
  • System Installation Design: Define systems installation locations in the aircraft in accordance with the systems requirements.
  • Hardware Design: Using Siemens NX, design required hardware to mechanically install the system in the intended location and select appropriate standard parts.
  • Design Optimization: Propose designs and design changes to the airframe to enable system installation, and liaise with system owners, stress engineers, EWIS engineers, and other relevant stakeholders for multidisciplinary optimization of system installation design.
  • Technical Drawing Approval: Check and approve technical 2D drawings for manufacturing release.
  • Design Data Management: Manage the design data of the systems and system installations in Teamcenter.
  • Manufacturing Support: Support manufacturing, assembly, and installation at our Final Assembly Line (FAL).
  • Supplier Management: Manage and coordinate suppliers.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Work on any ad hoc related projects or tasks.
Requirements
  • Education: University degree in Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical/Vehicle Engineering (aerospace specialization, MSc/M.Eng preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the aerospace industry is required.
  • Technical Skills: Detailed and in-depth knowledge of metallic structures and their design principles is required, knowledge of composite structures and their design principles is beneficial.
  • CAD System: Good knowledge of a CAD system is required (Siemens NX is preferred).
  • Drafting Skills: Good knowledge of ISO GPS (alternatively ASME GD&T) and overall good drafting skills are required.
  • PDM/PLM System: Basic knowledge with PDM/PLM systems (Teamcenter or equivalent) is beneficial.
  • Stress Analysis: Basic knowledge of analytical stress analysis is beneficial.
  • Requirements-Based Engineering: Experience in requirements-based engineering beneficial.
  • Thermal and Electrical Engineering: Good knowledge of thermal and electrical engineering principles is beneficial.
  • Language Skills: Fluent English language skills are essential, fluent German or any other language is beneficial.
