Senior Mechanical Engineer

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer at Spire, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing the mechanical systems and payloads for our next-generation satellites. Your work will involve a variety of satellite missions, and you will be intimately involved in vehicle design, test equipment design, satellite assembly, and mechanical environmental testing.
The role will include the design of satellite structures and mechanisms, thermal and structural analysis, working with 3rd party manufacturers, and interfacing with electrical and software teams. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively as part of a fast-paced multidisciplinary team to achieve a common goal. They will have a hands-on, collaborative approach to problem solving, ensuring that projects are delivered on time with a critical attention to detail.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop mechanical systems and payloads for satellites
- Conduct thermal and structural analysis of satellite components
- Work with 3rd party manufacturers to develop and test satellite systems
- Interface with electrical and software teams to ensure seamless integration
- Lead and manage complex projects from conception to delivery
Requirements:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Experience working in the Space Industry or similar
- Strong understanding of mechanical design and analysis principles
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with SolidWorks and other CAD design tools
- Knowledge of thermal and structural analysis software
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
Spire operates a hybrid work model, and this position will require you to work a minimum of three days per week in office.
Access to US export controlled software and/or technology may be required.
