Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer

Spire is seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and analyzing the mechanical systems and payloads for our next-generation satellites.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop mechanical systems and payloads for satellites
  • Perform thermal and structural analysis of mechanical systems
  • Work with 3rd party manufacturers and electrical and software teams
  • Develop and maintain detailed system documentation
  • Peer review of mechanical drawings
  • Prototyping and testing of mechanical and electro-mechanical systems
  • Qualification of satellite subsystems and full satellites
  • Support junior mechanical engineers and assist other team members
Requirements:
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Experience working in the space industry or similar
  • Precision machined parts design and mechanical analysis
  • CAD design and drafting experience
  • Experience with mechanism design and thermal analysis
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Skills:
  • Environmental testing and design for manufacture and assembly
  • Thermal and thermoelastic analysis of mechanical systems
  • Electromagnetic compatibility and EMI shielding
  • Electronics theory and basic software skills
  • Track record of leading/managing complex projects
