Role Overview

As Senior Director Sustainability, you will lead the execution of adidas' environmental Sustainability program, ensuring successful delivery of key performance indicators (KPIs) and targets in close collaboration across all functions. This includes Global Operations, Brand, Finance, HR, Sales, and developing cross-functional direction and guidance on the company's sustainability efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of adidas' sustainability program, ensuring successful delivery of KPIs and targets, including the board KPI on decarbonization.
  • Develop and implement environmental-related ESG regulations affecting adidas, in collaboration with respective functions.
  • Establish cross-functional senior leadership alignment, direction, and guidance on the company's longer-term environmental sustainability ambitions, focusing on key topics such as decarbonization, circularity, and biodiversity.
  • Represent adidas internally and externally as a spokesperson on environmental sustainability efforts, including conversations with investors, media, and other stakeholders.
  • Manage memberships to environmental alliances and industry partnerships.
  • Develop measurable environmental targets and KPIs, drive and execute related initiatives, track, and report on progress.

Requirements

  • Profound technical expertise in sustainability management and a track record in delivering sustainability programs.
  • In-depth understanding of sustainability challenges in the industry.
  • Strong analytical skills and a pragmatic approach to leading programs/projects.
  • Well-established network with external organizations, innovation hubs, and solution providers.
  • Ability to take a strategic view, bigger picture view, and action results.
  • High ethical integrity.

Qualifications

  • Four-year university degree, preferably a master's degree in environmental science, CSR, engineering, or related fields.
  • Minimum 12 years' work experience in sustainability, ideally with a focus on decarbonization, innovation, circularity, and biodiversity.
  • Minimum 6 years proven leadership of diverse & global teams and projects in a matrix organization.
