Head of Sustainability Risk Management

Role OverviewThe Risk platform is the independent risk oversight function of DWS, with sustainability risk playing a pivotal role in driving our commitment to sustainability and responsible business practices. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for evaluating firm-wide risks on an aggregate basis and aligning them across the organization.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement a comprehensive sustainability risk management strategy that aligns with our company's goals and values.
- Identify, assess, and prioritize sustainability risks across the organization, including climate change, resource scarcity, social impact, and regulatory changes.
- Collaborate with various risk leads and cross-functional teams to integrate sustainability risk considerations into risk management types, business operations, supply chain management, product development, and investment decisions.
- Conduct regular sustainability risk assessments, evaluating potential impacts on financial performance, reputation, and long-term viability.
- Stay current on emerging sustainability trends, regulations, and best practices to proactively address evolving risks and opportunities.
- Lead the design and implementation of effective risk mitigation measures, controls, and monitoring mechanisms.
- Develop and deliver training programs to enhance employees' understanding of sustainability risks and their role in managing them.
- Manage and coach a team of sustainability risk resources.
- Produce regular reports and presentations for executive leadership and stakeholders, highlighting key sustainability risk insights and recommendations.
- Engage with external partners, industry associations, and experts to stay informed about sustainability risk developments and share knowledge.
- Extensive experience in risk management, sustainability risk, ESG, or related roles across the financial services sector.
- Strong understanding of sustainability trends, regulations, and industry best practices and developing these into risk policy and appetite statements and risk frameworks.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and assess complex sustainability risks.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective risk management strategies.
- Leadership experience with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
- Exceptional project management skills, with the ability to manage and analyze large amounts of data and execute against tight deadlines.
- German language a strong plus; excellent writing and communication skills.
- Educated to degree level in a financial related discipline or with relevant professional experience.
