About the Role

The Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) is seeking a highly motivated Master Thesis Student in Electrical Engineering or a related field to join our team. As a member of our Institute of Communications and Navigation, you will be working on the conception and analysis of communication and navigation systems involving satellites or designed for applications in aeronautics, transport, and security.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and development in the field of information transmission systems, with emphasis on modulation, error control coding, signal processing, and medium access control aspects.
  • Investigate set reconciliation problems based on BCH codes and develop improved methods for decoding algorithms.
  • Implement the improved methods in SageMath/Python and evaluate their performance via simulations.
Requirements
  • Studies in electrical engineering (or related) with specialization on communication engineering and channel coding.
  • Strong background on channel coding and background on algebraic codes.
  • Programming languages: SageMath/Python.
