About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled student to join our team at the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt (DLR) as a Student Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology or similar. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a software defined radio (SDR) framework, designing and implementing digital signal processing blocks for packet detection, timing acquisition, and frequency recovery under various performance constraints.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement digital signal processing blocks on a software defined radio (SDR) framework
  • Adapt, simulate, and implement existing receiver algorithms (or design new ones) for packet detection, timing acquisition, and frequency recovery
  • Work on a live setup with real radio frontends
Requirements
  • Study of Electrical Engineering, Communication Engineering, Computer Science, or similar
  • Hands-on experience in C/C++, a scripting language (e.g. MATLAB, Python), Linux, and collaboration tools (e.g. git, svn)
  • Signal Processing for Communications (Layer 1 - PHY) knowledge is advantageous
