Master Student to Develop Robust Performance Model for Next Generation Gravity Mission

Job Description:

In order to support the Attitude and Orbit Control System (AOCS), Guidance, Navigation and Control (GNC) & Flight Dynamics department, Airbus Defence and Space is seeking a Master student to contribute to the development of a robust performance model for the paired flying satellites of the Next Generation Gravity Mission.

This project involves the derivation of a robust model of the whole system, including parametric uncertainties, to support the system performance analysis. The model will be obtained from the linearization of the non-linear dynamics equations, combined with a good physical understanding and the quantification of the uncertainties in the system.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a challenging project, applying modern robust control techniques to address the challenges of modeling, analysis, and attitude control design for the Next Generation Gravity Mission.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Derivation and implementation of a Linear Fractional Transformation (LFT) model for the Next Generation Gravity Mission.
  • Application of the derived LFT model for robustness and sensitivity analysis of the mission in science operation.
  • Documentation of work.

Requirements:

  • Enrolled as a full-time Aerospace Engineering Master student or similar field of study.
  • Very good knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Very good knowledge of dynamics and robust control.
  • Desired knowledge in rendezvous applications.
