Job Title: Power Trading Analyst

E.ON Energy Markets GmbH is a leading player in the European energy trading market, and we are seeking a highly skilled Power Trading Analyst to join our team.

About the Role:

The successful candidate will be responsible for building and developing quantitative models for the European energy trading team, working closely with traders and analysts to identify and develop price forecasting models relevant for commercial decision making.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining quantitative models for power market analysis
  • Collaborating with traders and analysts to identify and develop price forecasting models
  • Leveraging coding skills to develop efficient models for scenario analysis and visualization
  • Compiling time series data for model inputs and automating model updates and result processing
  • Collaborating with IT and Quant departments on tool development
  • Producing regular reports on model developments and functional updates
Requirements:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • University-level education in a relevant field, such as mathematics, engineering, economics, or data science
  • Demonstrable experience in market analysis from an energy trading background
  • Expertise in econometric/statistical and fundamental modelling, preferably in a European context
  • Strong conceptual understanding of power market concepts, such as security-constrained economic dispatch and unit-commitment
  • Expertise in a mathematical modelling language, such as GAMS, Python, or Julia, and familiarity with databases, such as SQL and PostgreSQL
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills
