Senior Quantum Communication Systems Engineer

We are looking for a Senior Quantum Communication Systems Engineer to join our team in Oberpfaffenhofen. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for:

  • Participating in or leading proposals and subsequent studies/projects (phases 0/A/B) and technology development programs with a focus on secure and quantum communication.
  • Preparing proposals and subsequent implementation projects (phases B/C/D/E) with a focus on secure/quantum communication.
  • Conducting security analyses and certification activities with respect to secure or quantum communication mission, payloads, and components.
  • Supporting and advising on security validation according to ISO 27k and certification according to CC/ITGS of the BSI.
  • Defining customer, mission, and system requirements.
  • Coordinating technical activities and managing systems.
  • Defining study logic, work breakdown, and work packages.
  • Managing work packages and sub-projects.
  • Performing trade-offs of technical and programmatic solutions.
  • Specifying systems and subsystems, interface engineering.
  • Deriving security system requirements specifications and system architectures and developing cyber security concepts.
  • Interacting with system design to ensure a common understanding of cyber security threats, risks, features, and a smooth implementation.
  • Defining budgets and engineering.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in (aerospace) engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, or equivalent.
  • Experience in designing and implementing secure and quantum communication systems for ground and space.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in key management systems.
  • Technical knowledge and experience in crypto systems.
  • Experience in assessing security risk according to the EBIOS or ISO method.
  • Ideal experience in leading small teams in project management and technical roles.
  • Passion for providing systematic approaches to prove the security properties of our systems.
  • Ability to work in a team with a self-managed and pro-active working style.
