Job Title: Systems Engineer – Instrument Performance

OHB System AG, a leading space company in Europe, is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to join our team in Oberpfaffenhofen. As a key member of our multidisciplinary engineering team, you will contribute to the development of advanced optical instruments for our large space projects.

Your Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and model the performance of electro-optical instruments, considering various contributors such as optical design, detector characteristics, and structural stability.
  • Ensure the proper flow-down of customer requirements to technical requirements and allocate technical budgets accordingly.
  • Design and analyze instrument calibration concepts for on-ground and in-flight applications.
  • Regularly update the system's technical budgets during the program lifetime.
  • Perform or support instrument design trade-offs, identify and analyze mitigation options.
  • Define work packages together with internal specialists and external sub-contractors.
  • Align activities with the systems engineering work plan.
  • Review sub-contractor analysis results and documents.
  • Monitor compliance to customer requirements.
  • Support the definition of control loops and technical discussions with customers or suppliers.
Your Qualifications:
  • University or polytechnic degree or PhD in a scientific or engineering subject.
  • Proficient in at least one of the following categories: technical and physical optics, spectrometry, and optical instruments, control theory, or mathematical modeling and simulation.
  • Experience with programming languages Python and/or MATLAB and data processing.
  • Strong analytical skills, good communication and negotiation skills.
  • Fluent in English in reading and writing.
