Job Description

Our team in Essen currently has an opening for a Global Director Technical Services BSP (m/f/d) who will be primarily responsible for identifying and delivering commercially and operationally realistic, best practice, technical and operational solutions to site-specific issues.

Key Responsibilities
  • The Global Director Technical Services BSP will be responsible for designing, delivering, and implementing site-specific improvement strategies in recognition of change management.
  • The role will involve working with a strong technically-minded professional with working knowledge in the EPC services industry, who can demonstrate proven experience in technical services, exceptional customer service, leadership and best practice, and strong contractor management skills.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring the KPI performance of contractors and in-house teams, ensuring industry best practice and the highest standards for Brenntag.
  • The Global Director Technical Services BSP will also be responsible for building transparency along each individual sub-projects and project steps for all relevant stakeholders and coordinating any alerts that may arise.
  • The role requires an exceptional professional who has working knowledge and experience of the EPC services industry and key factors affecting it.
  • The Global Director Technical Services BSP will be responsible for driving concept development, including specifications and make-or-buy-decisions, and providing SCS project and equipment standards, scope definition, guidelines, best practices, including AIPS and maintenance.
  • The role will also involve standardizing project management tools, templates, and processes, and acting as a custodian of global steering via KPI benchmarks.
  • The Global Director Technical Services BSP will be responsible for building a sustainable Risk Management system for all projects and defining functionalities and capabilities of IT tools.
  • The role requires a strong project control and finance leadership background from a highly professional and international industrial company with relation to plant engineering, construction, automation, process industry, etc.
  • The Global Director Technical Services BSP will be responsible for enabling the team to respond effectively to present and future challenges, including the increase of project complexity, need for a larger transparency, and alert system, and the impact of digitalization.
  • The role requires a senior level technical manager by nature and background, who is experienced in-, and able to act, to deal and to operate at general management level.
  • The Global Director Technical Services BSP will be responsible for ensuring collaboration and alignment with the respective BES counterpart.
Requirements
  • The relevant candidate has a proven career track-record of +10 years in a capital equipment, large-scale project, EPC, or Petro-chemical industrial environment with high profile organizations.
  • The new incumbent ideally has a successful working experience in a leadership role, with focus on Manufacturing and Operations.
  • The future incumbent should dispose of sound experience of building a central best in class method plants and should bring in strong leadership experience and qualifications.
  • 15+ years of professional working experience in project management in EPC and construction, ideally within the chemical industry.
  • Experience in developing a project management team to top performance, through excellent leadership and communication skills; proven ability to recruit, motivate, develop, retain, and lead his/her team.
  • Strong project control and finance leadership background from a highly professional and international industrial company with relation to plant engineering, construction, automation, process industry, etc.
  • Familiar to work in a global/multinational and corporate environment and to gather a considerable part of his experience in comparable, technical, and capital-intensive dominated environments.
  • Ability to successfully develop and roll out a sustainable supply-chain/ manufacturing-strategy, and consequently developed and led successful sites in the relevant industries.
  • Demonstrated effective team-relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders. Understanding the demand of an organization and their dependence on reliable delivery.
  • Deep understanding of the essential principals of the broader value and supply chain management in relevant industrial industry sectors.
  • A senior level technical manager by nature and background, who is experienced in-, and able to act, to deal and to operate at general management level.
  • An executive who has a (technical) strategic vision and approach but who is also open for- and able to understand and deal with more in-depth technical matters.
  • Education: A university degree or post-graduate degree in one of the following disciplines is required: Bachelor's degree in mechanical/Chemical Engineering.
