Research Associate in Optical Communication Systems

The RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and outstanding researcher to join our team in the area of Optical Communication. The successful candidate will perform theoretical and experimental research on Optical Systems applied for future communication, imaging, and radar systems.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research on Optical Communication, particularly in the areas of Free Space Optics, Intersatellite Communication, Optical Feeder Links, Visible Light Communication, Underwater Optical Communication, and Optical Camera Communication.
- Develop research around optical-based communications, including channel modeling, optimization of transmission and reception, network-based design, and evaluation.
- Design and develop algorithms to provide a good performance-complexity trade-off for identified scenarios and use cases.
- Compare with state-of-the-art and conventional solutions via numerical simulations and/or HW/chipset validation.
- Disseminate results through scientific publications and conferences.
- Assist in the organization of relevant workshops and demos.
- Prepare new research proposals to attract new projects.
- Provide assistance in the supervision of PhD students.
- Ph.D. degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or an affine field with a proven record of accomplishment in Optical Communication.
- Experience in a number of the following topics: solid mathematical background, active and passive optical components, optical lab equipment, Adaptive optics, and optical channel modeling.
- Software development skills using C++, Python, and MATLAB.
- Experience with 5G/6G communication systems is desirable.
- International experience is desirable.
- Sound publication track record in relevant international conferences and top journals.
- Experience of working with industrial projects or public-funded research projects is highly desirable.
