Job Title: Energy Policy Expert

GIZ is seeking an experienced Energy Policy Expert to join our team in Eschborn, Germany. The successful candidate will work on a Continental Energy Programme in Africa, providing technical assistance and policy advice to support the development and implementation of 3 Pan-African energy programmes.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop continental, regional, and national policies and regulatory frameworks for green energy development in Africa.
  • Design continental mechanisms for regulation and coordination of electricity trade across Power Pools.
  • Establish cooperation with continental, regional, and national institutions to implement the African Common Position on Energy Access and Green Transition recommendations.
  • Provide specific support to the AfSEM Strategic Planning and Coordination Unit.
  • Organise targeted communication strategy for AfSEM and implement communication and dissemination activities.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in economics, management, engineering, life sciences, industry, development-related studies, environmental studies law, business administration, finance or a relevant, directly related discipline.
  • At least level C1 in English and French.
  • At least 12 years of relevant professional experience in project or programme management.
  • At least 7 years of international experience in energy projects in a developing country context, some of which must be in Africa.
