Role Overview
The Career Development Specialist is a pivotal role within the Tallahassee Community College, housing the Career Development Specialist within the Department of Corrections. This position may cover multiple institutions based on workload and proximity. The Career Development Specialist will deliver services through cell-front and/or in congregate settings.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement employability and life skills programs.
- Administer and interpret various assessments.
- Deliver the 100-Hour Transition Skills Education program curriculum.
- Implement other programs as determined by the Department, such as Thinking for a Change.
- Document services delivered and maintain accurate records.
- Establish pre-release connections with community providers and employers through face-to-face and technology-based interactions.
- Support the administration of the 100-Hour Transition Skills Education Program.
Requirements
An Associate's Degree from an accredited college or university and one year of related work experience or a high school diploma and three (3) years of professional experience in workforce development, social services, corrections, or a related field are required.
Skills and Abilities
The ideal candidate will possess knowledge of administrative principles and practices, office procedures, and data collection methods. They will also have proficient computer skills in Excel and Microsoft Word, as well as effective communication and problem-solving abilities.
