Tallahassee Community College seeks a dedicated Career Development Specialist to guide and support students in their educational and career journeys.
This role is integral to the Project Anchor grant, a collaborative initiative between Tallahassee Community College and the Department of Juvenile Justice.
- Leadership & Team Management: Provide direction and mentorship to a team of Career Navigators. Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs aligned with best practices. Facilitate meetings, resolve issues, and implement quality assurance measures for the unit. Oversee reports, documents, and communications before submission to stakeholders.
- Student Support & Program Navigation: Review referrals and program documentation. Assist students with registration processes and inquiries about post-secondary institutions. Collaborate closely with instructors and program staff to ensure student success. Guide students in identifying program tracks and provide support throughout their educational journey.
- Resource Coordination & Pathway Development: Make strategic referrals, schedule appointments, and coordinate with program partners to connect students with valuable resources. Educate students on available options and provide guidance on pathways to work-based learning or post-secondary education. Develop strong relationships with assigned youth to foster engagement and progress.
- Success Planning & Advocacy: Create personalized success plans for each student, working collaboratively to identify necessary documentation for enrollment in post-secondary institutions. Proactively secure work-based learning opportunities for students transitioning from educational programs.
- Data Management & Communication: Collaborate with a team to provide comprehensive services to youth. Maintain accurate records in the required database and contribute to the development of automated communication strategies. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, including educational partners, WIOA partners, and others. Provide students with guidance on academic requirements, interpreting test scores, unofficial transcripts, and course prerequisites. Assist with online college credit options, dual enrollment registration, and advising.
