Urban Mobility Specialist for Traffic Analysis and Prediction

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled Traffic Engineer to join our team at the City of Dortmund. As a key member of our urban planning and transportation department, you will play a crucial role in developing and implementing traffic simulation models and forecasting tools to inform urban planning decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain the city's traffic analysis and forecasting models using PTV Visum software
- Update traffic demand matrices for simulation models based on urban development changes
- Extract traffic data from simulation models for transportation studies and noise assessments
- Contribute to the development of traffic analysis and counting station programs
- Participate in the development of simulation models and their content
- Develop and maintain georeferenced traffic data and GIS infrastructure
- Collaborate with external partners to integrate new mobility data into traffic planning
- Prepare decision-making documents for political bodies and report on their meetings
- Manage reporting on requests from politicians
- Prepare and moderate meetings and actively participate in discussions
- Develop presentations to explain complex topics
- Contribute to the conceptual development of mobility planning in Dortmund
- Support the coordination of traffic-related aspects in urban planning procedures
- Assess the need for traffic studies
- Support external traffic studies or conduct internal traffic studies as part of urban planning procedures
- Prepare statements on traffic impacts in the context of participatory procedures

- Knowledge of geoinformation software (e.g., MapInfo, QGIS) is desirable
- Knowledge of statistical software (e.g., SPSS) is desirable
- Knowledge of project management is desirable
