Senior Software Engineer, Data Processing Pipelines

About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our cross-functional team dedicated to ensuring effective communication with HelloFresh customers. As a key member of our team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and operating high-scale data processing pipelines that support our communications platform and message types.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with a cross-functional team of 6-10 members, utilizing diverse technologies and frameworks to deliver high-quality data processing pipelines.
  • Take ownership of the end-to-end process, including architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of data pipelines, applying DevOps practices, pair programming, and other cutting-edge methodologies.
  • Actively contribute as a solution-oriented member within autonomous, cross-functional agile teams, collaborating with product owners, backend engineers, mobile engineers, and business intelligence teams.
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of HelloFresh's core product and architecture, serving as an ambassador for software solutions and providing support and mentorship to colleagues.
  • Work with state-of-the-art technologies like AWS EMR, Kafka, PySpark, Kubernetes, Airflow, and more.
Requirements
  • Solid software engineering experience with the ability to design, implement, and deliver maintainable, high-quality code in Python.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud computing and data processing technologies, including Spark, Kubernetes.
  • Proficiency in data modeling, relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL), and object stores (e.g., AWS S3).
  • Expertise in end-to-end development processes, including unit, integration & functional testing, application tuning/profiling, and continuous integration.
  • Demonstrable experience with agile methodologies, with a strong focus on delivery, lean thinking, and quick iterations.
  • You seek to continuously develop yourself and learn from your peers.
  • You thrive in the opportunity to collaborate and mentor team members, while also sharing practical knowledge and trends.
  • Experience with event-driven architecture is nice to have.
  • Bonus points for practical experience integrating marketing providers such as Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Braze, and HubSpot.
