Diamond Turning Specialist

Mynaric AG is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Diamond Turning Technician to join our growing team. As a key member of our manufacturing operations, you will play a vital role in producing precision optical components that drive the future of space-based communication.
In this role, you will utilize your expertise in diamond turning technology to create high-quality, complex optical elements. You will work with state-of-the-art CNC machines and advanced metrology equipment to ensure precise dimensional accuracy and surface finish. Your contributions will directly impact the performance and reliability of our cutting-edge laser communication systems.
Responsibilities:- Safely operate single-point diamond turning CNC machines, adhering to strict safety protocols.
- Interpret technical drawings and apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles for precise component fabrication.
- Conduct thorough visual inspections of diamond-turned components and utilize metrology equipment (e.g., CMMs, interferometers) for preliminary inspection and quality control.
- Meticulously record inspection data, labor hours, and job information within our manufacturing systems.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment by adhering to established cleaning schedules and inventory control procedures.
- Perform tool maintenance and assembly, including the positioning of diamond tools in holders and the selection of appropriate process tooling.
- Create, load, edit, and store diamond turning programs using CAM software, ensuring optimal machining parameters.
- Execute complex machine setups and operate equipment independently with minimal supervision, receiving guidance from engineering or area supervisors.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in a related industry, coupled with a degree in a technical discipline or a successful completion of an apprenticeship program.
- Proven expertise in spherical optics, aspheres, and optical testing methodologies.
- Experience with SPDT manufacturing equipment from leading manufacturers such as Moore Nanotech or Precitech is highly advantageous.
- A strong understanding of optics manufacturing processes and the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
- Excellent teamwork skills, coupled with exceptional written and verbal communication abilities. You are detail-oriented, organized, and possess a meticulous approach to your work.
- Proficiency in reading and comprehending technical drawings and documentation. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software is a valuable asset.
- Strong computer skills, including proficiency in MS Word and Excel. You are highly organized and possess excellent interpersonal skills.
- Fluent English communication skills (written and verbal). German language proficiency is a plus.
