Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Cost Management Director to join our team at Turner & Townsend. As a key member of our cost management team, you will be responsible for delivering large complex projects and acting as the day-to-day interface with our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide estimate and cost planning, including producing and presenting the final estimate.
  • Ability to estimate at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
  • Compile feasibility studies.
  • Prepare procurement reports.
  • Perform all aspects of procurement, including managing the pre-qualification stage, producing tender lists, tender analysis, producing tender reports, and compiling contractual documents.
  • Manage post-contract cost variances and the change control processes.
  • Manage cost checks and valuation deliverables on larger projects, ensuring timely and accurate cost checking and valuation processes.
  • Produce monthly cost reports, including presenting to clients.
  • Lead value engineering initiatives and negotiate and settle final accounts.
  • Maintain liaison with clients and other consultants at all project stages.
  • Provide leadership to the cost management team and ensure the delivery of appointed services scope.
  • Identify opportunities to develop new business opportunities.
  • Identify and implement improvements for cost management procedures, templates, and products.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 8-10 years' experience in cost management.
  • Experience of leading cost management commissions for large construction projects of high complexity.
  • Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters, such as procurement routes, value management, and value engineering, and life cycle costing.
  • People management experience, particularly in the context of managing a team delivering a project.
  • Sound technical experience in all cost management areas; pre-contract, post-contract, and final account.
  • Good understanding of all mechanical, process, electrical, and plumbing systems, as they relate to construction projects, and good understanding of all civils, structural, and architectural aspects as they relate to construction projects.
  • Experience in the German construction industry with knowledge of local markets and contractual documentation is advantageous.
  • English skills are required, as well as basic German skills (min. B1), and a willingness to improve German language skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Sound organisational skills; ability to multi-task and be a team player.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office software and tools.
  • Working knowledge of cost databases and/or estimating software is advantageous.
