Renewable Energy Innovation Specialist

We are seeking a talented Research Scientist to join our team at Bauhaus Luftfahrt e. V., a renowned research institution in Germany.

This fixed-term position offers an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated individual to contribute to cutting-edge research in solar fuels and renewable energy technologies. As a Research Scientist, you will work closely with our international team of experts to explore innovative solutions for climate neutrality in aviation.

• Evaluate key performance parameters of future aviation fuel pathways to identify the most promising technical options.
• Develop process and system models for sustainable aviation fuel production from concentrated sunlight, water, and CO2 using Solar-thermochemical Sunlight-to-Liquid (StL) fuel technology.
• Conduct holistic comparative evaluations of StL with liquid hydrogen, e-fuels, and SAF from advanced biomass, including renewable CO2 sourcing via direct air capture.
• Analyze production potentials, ecological life cycle performance, techno-economic criteria, and other performance indicators.

• M.Sc. degree with a strong background in physics, chemistry, or a related field.
• Proven scientific creativity, quantitative analytical skills, and proficiency in programming languages.
• Familiarity with heat transfer, renewable energy technologies, and life-cycle analysis is desirable.
• Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English and German.

• A competitive salary package according to the public tariff system, estimated at €60,000 - €80,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
