Job Description
We're seeking a Cost Management Director to join our team. As a key member of our cost management team, you'll be responsible for delivering large complex projects and acting as the day-to-day interface with our clients. You'll have broad experience in pre-contract cost planning and estimating activities, and post-contract commercial management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide estimate and cost planning, including producing and presenting the final estimate.
- Estimate at conceptual, programming, and detailed levels.
- Compile feasibility studies.
- Prepare procurement reports.
- Manage post-contract cost variances and change control processes.
- Manage cost checks and valuation deliverables on larger projects.
- Produce monthly cost reports and present to clients.
- Lead value engineering initiatives and negotiate final accounts.
- Maintain liaison with clients and other consultants at all project stages.
- Provide leadership to the cost management team and ensure delivery of appointed services scope.
- Identify opportunities for new business and implement improvements for cost management procedures, templates, and products.
Qualifications
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum 8-10 years' experience in cost management.
- Experience leading cost management commissions for large construction projects.
- Good knowledge of construction industry technical matters.
- People management experience, particularly in managing a team delivering a project.
- Sound technical experience in all cost management areas.
- Good understanding of mechanical, process, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as civils, structural, and architectural aspects.
- Experience in the German construction industry is advantageous.
- English skills are required, as well as basic German skills (min. B1), and a willingness to improve German language skills.
- Demonstrates excellent presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Sound organisational skills, ability to multi-task, and be a team player.
- Working knowledge of MS Office software and tools.
- Working knowledge of cost databases and/or estimating software is advantageous.
