Join Our Team as a Student Assistant in Energy Systems

The Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK) is a leading research institution in the field of global change, climate impacts, and sustainable development. We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled student assistant to support our research team in the Energy Systems group.

About the Position

This part-time position (10 hours/week) is available for a student with a strong background in computer science, programming, physics, maths, engineering, system sciences, economics, or a related field. The successful candidate will assist in writing code and developing software in R and Python for our techno-economic analysis framework and related software tools.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain software tools for techno-economic analysis
  • Manage and analyze data for our techno-economic database
  • Contribute to method development for research on energy transition, energy technologies, and global energy trade
  • Review and collect literature and data on techno-economics of energy technologies (optional)
Requirements
  • Strong programming skills in Python and/or R
  • Experience in collaborative working and teamwork
  • Ability to work independently and on your own initiative
  • Methodical and systematic approach
  • Structured and target-oriented thinking
