We are seeking a highly motivated PhD student to join our research team at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf e. V. in Dresden, Germany.

About the Project

Our research group is working on the development of methods to identify and quantify uncertainties in online adaptive proton therapy (OPAT). We are looking for a PhD student to contribute to this project and help us advance our understanding of uncertainty in OPAT.

About the Position

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Joint development of methods to identify and quantify uncertainties in OPAT
  • Collection and analysis of data, implementation, validation, and extension of AI models for uncertainty prediction
  • Feasible and creative solutions to reduce or mitigate the effect of different uncertainties in OPAT
  • Presentation of results at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals
  • Supervision of bachelor and master students
About You

We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in medical physics, physics, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, or a related field. The ideal candidate should have:

  • Completed university studies (Master/Diploma)
  • Programming experience, preferably with Python
  • Experience in radiotherapy, particle therapy, or deformable image registration is a plus
  • Interest in collaborative work and ability to work in a team
  • Fluency in English
