Join Our Team as a PhD Student in Spectroscopy

We are seeking an exceptional PhD student to join our team at Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR) in the Department of Spectroscopy. As a PhD student, you will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge research projects in the field of spectroscopy, focusing on the study of exotic magnetic excitations in functional materials.

Your Responsibilities
  • Update a standard 2D THz spectroscopy setup suitable for measurements in reflection/transmission geometry and at low temperatures
  • Perform the required 2D THz spectroscopy studies on selected materials
  • Coordinate with the theory partners toward the explanation of the observed signatures
Requirements
  • Completed university studies (Master/Diploma) in Physics, Material Science or related field
  • Profound knowledge of quantum mechanics and solid-state physics
  • Experience in ultrafast spectroscopic studies is an advantage
  • Well-developed social and communication skills, directed toward working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Good English language skills
