Research Scientist

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to join our team as a PhD Student in the Department of Medical Radiation Physics.
About the PositionThis is a 3-year limited employment contract, starting on 1 February 2025, with a working time of 19.5 hours per week. The position offers a unique opportunity to work on a collaborative project between OncoRay in Dresden and HIRO in Heidelberg, with regular collaboration visits.
Key Responsibilities- Develop methods to identify and quantify uncertainties in online adaptive proton therapy (OPAT)
- Analyze data, implement, validate, and extend AI models for uncertainty prediction of different sources of uncertainty in OAPT
- Find feasible and creative solutions to reduce or mitigate the effect of different uncertainties in OAPT
- Present results at international conferences and in peer-reviewed journals, supervise bachelor and master students
- Completed university studies in medical physics, physics, biomedical engineering, bioinformatics, or similar
- Programming experience, preferably with Python
- Experience in radiotherapy, particle therapy, or deformable image registration is a plus
- Fluent in English
