About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist to join our Reaction Engineering unit at BASF SE. As a member of our team, you will work on developing innovative reactors for high-temperature processes, such as methane pyrolysis.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new reactor concepts and technologies to reduce CO2 emissions from large basic chemicals.
  • Collaborate with process development, specialist departments, technology, operations, marketing, and workshops to drive innovation and improve process efficiency.
  • Work independently on sub-projects and contribute to the methodological development of the field of work.
  • Lead technical projects and manage a team of engineers and researchers.
  • Maintain an intensive network of contacts with operational units and scientific partners.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in process engineering, chemical engineering, or technical chemistry.
  • Sound knowledge of reaction engineering and reactor design, with experience in high-temperature technology an advantage.
  • Ability to solve complex problems and develop new methods and solutions.
  • Confident and open communication in German and English.
  • Profound data mindset and ability to leverage digital skills and means to solve scientific problems.
