Haus der sozialen Vielfalt e.V. is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering democracy and implementing impactful projects in political education. We also provide essential services in youth welfare and childcare.

Project Focus: Strengthening Collaboration Between Municipalities and Muslim Organizations

We are embarking on a two-year project to enhance collaboration between municipalities and Muslim organizations across Germany. This initiative is built upon three key pillars:

  • Fostering nationwide exchange between municipalities regarding Muslim life.
  • Creating tailored qualification opportunities for municipal actors on relevant topics within Germany.
  • Offering individualized advisory services on Islam-related matters to municipalities in eastern Germany.

We are partnering with Syspons GmbH, a renowned consulting company specializing in social innovation, established in 2014 with offices in Hamburg, Berlin, and Cologne.

Your Role as Project Coordinator

As a Project Coordinator, you will play a vital role in shaping this important initiative. Your responsibilities will encompass:

  • Engaging with socio-political issues surrounding religious practices and the integration of Muslims in Germany, as well as promoting intercultural openness within administrations.
  • Supporting the organization and execution of virtual and in-person events for municipal actors to facilitate exchange and collaboration with Muslim organizations.
  • Contributing to the coordination and moderation of working groups.
  • Planning and implementing training measures to enhance knowledge regarding Muslim communities and Alevi population groups among municipal actors.
  • Assisting in conceptualizing and organizing public events such as information sessions and workshops.
  • Supporting the establishment and management of an Islam question center to provide individual advice and support to eastern German municipalities on Islam-related issues.
  • Advising and supporting municipal administrations in developing and implementing strategies for engaging with Muslim communities and Alevi population groups.
  • Developing and executing a communication strategy, creating relevant materials, and managing public relations across various media channels.

Your Profile

We are seeking a highly motivated individual with:

  • A completed academic degree in Islamic Studies, Arabic Studies, Political Science, Sociology, Ethnology, Cultural Studies, Religious Studies, or related fields with connections to the aforementioned areas.
  • Thorough knowledge of current political and social debates concerning Islam and Muslim life in Germany, as well as the actors, responsibilities, and organizational structures at the federal, state, and municipal levels.
  • Ideally, experience in designing and conducting workshops on anti-Muslim racism, Islam, or diversity-oriented opening of administration.
  • Skills in public relations and social media management.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in German.
  • Creative thinking, goal-oriented work, and a high degree of initiative.
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Germany or eastern Germany.
