Job Summary

IDS International is seeking a highly skilled Power Plant Operator to support the Total Maintenance Contract for the Kaiserslautern Military Community. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation of the power plant facility, performing high-voltage electrical work, and maintaining electrical power generation and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe and effective operation of the power plant facility, adhering to national and local electrical standards and safety rules.
  • Perform high-voltage electrical work, including installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and testing of electrical power generation and distribution systems.
  • Analyze equipment data and trends to formulate changes to the maintenance program procedures as needed.
  • Work to eliminate unscheduled outages and ensure the reliability of the power plant facility.
  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of all electrical, generator, transformer, switchgear, power grid, substation, and load center equipment.
  • Test circuits, power grids, transformers, switchgear, and controls to ensure the integrity of electrical components and detect faults, hazards, and the need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Host Nation certified High Pressure Boiler Plant Operator (Hochdruckheisser).
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, utility standards, and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations, and guidelines of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI, and the NEC.
  • Experience in power plant operations, power generation, distribution, transmission, and substation maintenance.
  • NICET III certification in electrical power testing or equivalent training.
  • Minimum of four (4) years' experience in power plant operations, power generation, distribution, transmission, and substation maintenance.

Language Requirements

  • English and German at level 4 proficiency: At this level, an employee is required to possess a high degree of proficiency in both written and spoken English, including the ability to translate the host country language into precise and correct English, and English into the applicable foreign language.

Computer Skills

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
