Job Description

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior Backend Engineer to join our product development team. As a key member of our backend team, you'll play a crucial role in building the essential components of our platform, ensuring it's robust, scalable, and deployable to municipalities worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop a Spring-based application with a microservice architecture
  • Adhere to our architecture and industry standards, ensuring best practices are followed
  • Coordinate API contracts with other teams (mobile & web)
  • Oversee backend deployment and processes (GitLab CI/CD)
  • Collaborate with the technical architect, test team, front-end, and UI teams for smooth product feature delivery
  • Conduct code reviews and ensure code quality
  • Participate in our agile development process and coordinate with other backend developers
Requirements
  • BSc or MSc in Computer Science or a related field
  • 6+ years of professional experience as a backend engineer
  • Previous experience working remotely
  • Strong software design and algorithmic skills
  • Willingness to learn new technologies
  • Excellent English speaking skills (writing and verbal)
  • EU Timezone Candidates (CET +/- 2)
  • Tools and Technologies:
    • Object-Oriented Programming with Java
    • GraphQL
    • Reactive GraphQL
    • Spring Framework
    • Microservice Architectures
    • Strong understanding of source control management and CI/CD
    • Experience with Git source control management
    • GitLab CI/CD
  • Nice to have:
    • PhD in Computer Science or a related field
    • Experience with Kubernetes
    • Experience with Graph databases such as Neo4j
    • Experience with Streaming technologies such as Kafka
    • Experience with payment gateways such as Stripe
    • Experience with routing algorithms
    • Experience building SaaS products
    • Experience in building products powered by big data
